Dr. Gavani grew up in India and is a graduate of Guntur Medical College, India. After fulfilling a residency in Pediatrics at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Dr. Gavani completed a fellowship in Allergy Immunology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where she held a faculty position and was involved in teaching students and residents before starting her private practice.

Dr. Gavani is board certified by the American Board of Allergy & Clinical Immunology and also by the American Board of Pediatrics.

She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology; Fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology; and a Fellow of the Illinois Society of Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology.

She is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois Department of Pediatrics. She was the section head of Allergy and Clinical Immunology in the Department of Pediatrics at Christ Hospital and Medical Center until 2008.

Dr. Gavani received the Top Doctor Award from US NEWS & WORLD REPORT in the field Allergy and Clinical Immunology in 2012.
